About Meredith Davis Williams

Employment law attorney Meredith Davis Williams is a partner at Miller | Williams LLP in Los Angeles, California.  Ms. Williams began her legal career as an associate in the Labor and Employment Department of one of California’s top law firms, where she represented a broad range large and small private and publicly held companies, including major motion picture and television companies, entertainment industry associations, national retail clothing chains, international hotel chains,  construction companies, large non-profit trusts, privately held water companies, and online real estate sales companies, in a variety of state and federal employment law and wage and hour matters.  Her litigation experience includes class actions and individual claims at the trial and appellate court levels in state and federal court. 

In her current practice at Miller | Williams LLP, Ms. Williams focuses on helping companies avoid litigation and limit liability exposure through proactive management of employee relations issues, proactive legal compliance, and management training.  Her experience includes significant advice and counsel work, including as in-house employment counsel for a privately held company, during which time she oversaw the organization of a newly created Human Resources function.  She advises large and small companies, start-ups, and Human Resources professionals on a variety of federal and California employment law matters, including matters involving terminations, discipline, disability accommodations, medical leave issues, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, overtime exemption classifications, and privacy issues.  Ms. Williams also drafts and revises employee handbooks and policies, as well as conducts workplace trainings and investigations of employee complaints.

During her law school career, Ms. Williams was an extern to the Honorable Justice Laurence D. Rubin of the California Court of Appeal for the Second District of California and the Honorable Dean D. Pregerson of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.  Prior to attending law school, Ms. Williams worked in media relations at City of Hope.

When not practicing law, Ms. Williams enjoys cooking, music concerts, playing tennis, yoga, hiking, and snowboarding.

Community Activities

Ms. Williams is an active member of her legal and civic communities.  She is an active member of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section, Step Up Women’s Network, and Girls in Tech.  Ms. Williams has also served on the Planning Committee for Bet Tzedek’s annual Justice Ball and has participated in several pro bono projects for Bet Tzedek and Public Counsel.

Education

Ms. Williams received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California in 2006 (summa cum laude; Associate Editor and Staff Member, Southwestern Law Review, Dean’s List 2003-2006; Dean’s Scholar Award 2004-2006; Civil Procedure Teaching Assistant).  She received her B.A. in Mass Communications from the U.C. Berkeley in 2001.
